Chris Gayle’s attacking century in their game against the Kolkata Knight Riderswould have given many of the fans something to chew on. More importantly, it would have also allowed the sides against him think about why wasn’t he selected in the auction in the first place.
Gayle is clearly a cricketer for whom this format is made. He can smack all the bowlers around the park and quite frankly he can do so with ease.
Even if he does not score a century, it will be easy for the sides to have him come at the top of the innings, smack a quick-fire 30 or 40 and make the opponents pay.And he bowls well as well.
Unfortunately, none of the sides in the auction thought of all this – which was a definite surprise. Leaving out Ganguly was one thing but to leave out Gayle, quite another.
